Don’t want to use the keyboard anymore? Or you feel like interacting with your laptop? Don’t worry, Neonode has a solution to your problem – AirBar in just $49. As per Neonode, AirBar doesn’t require any special software to turn your PC into an intuitive screen to touch. If you’re using a Windows 7, 8, or 10 machine — or even a Chromebook — it’ll just work once it’s been plugged in. Neonode is working on Mac support, but not unveiled yet.
An amazing thing about AirBar is that it doesn’t matter what you touch the screen with. You don’t have to use a special stylus or your fingers — though you can, and even while wearing thick work gloves. Anything that breaks up the light field will do the trick: chopsticks, paint brushes, you name it.
The device looks very slim, and it is available for pre-order at $49. But you can’t attach it to just any display and turn it into a touchscreen. It only works with 15.6-inch laptops, which really limits its hype. The company is working on bringing it to more devices and almost any display device.
As per the company, users don’t need to load drivers, perform a calibration or jump through any other hoops in order to get AirBar to work. They put it on their Laptop, plug it into a USB port, and it starts functioning. Users then can use the features like pinch, swipe, zoom and scroll to their heart’s content.
